Description
The origin of the enclosed A as a symbol of the anarchist project to attain order not through power but through self-structuring freedom, may be found in Pierre-Joseph Proudhon’s quote “Society seeks order in anarchy”. The two words Order and Anarchy start by O and A in all Western languages. The symbol became widespread all over the world in 1968 when it was used in student protests.
